Attorney and Founder, The Craven Firm
D. Jeffrey Craven has practiced law for more than 30 years, concentrating much of his career on the representation of privately held businesses and their owners.
His practice includes business and commercial transactions, corporate and LLC matters, commercial real estate, contractor licensing, regulatory issues, trademarks, and related business matters.
Mr. Craven has represented clients in a wide variety of circumstances, from the formation and ongoing operation of small businesses to business acquisitions, ownership disputes, administrative proceedings, and complex commercial matters.
His background also includes civil litigation and appellate work. Although he no longer emphasizes litigation in his practice, that experience informs his approach to transactions, contracts, and business counseling, particularly when evaluating risks and anticipating potential disputes.
§ Practice philosophy
Mr. Craven’s practice is based on developing direct, long-term relationships with business owners.
Rather than limiting his work to a narrow legal specialty, he has sought to serve as a general legal resource for clients, assisting with a broad range of issues that arise in the ownership and operation of a business.
He believes that effective representation requires understanding the client’s business, explaining legal issues in practical terms, and providing candid advice, including when that advice is not what the client hoped to hear.
He also believes that an attorney should recognize the limits of his own expertise and assist clients in obtaining other professional advice when appropriate.

Mr. Craven has practiced both in law firms with other attorneys and as a solo practitioner. His work has included representation of business owners, contractors, professional practices, and other privately held enterprises.
He has experience in business formation and governance, commercial transactions, licensing and regulatory matters, real estate, intellectual property, and litigation involving business and property interests.
He has also participated in appellate matters before the Arizona appellate courts and the Supreme Court of the United States.
The Craven Firm is based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mr. Craven works directly with clients and provides legal services on an as-needed basis, with particular emphasis on business counseling and transactional matters.
